Ryan Leaf’s Visit to Montana State Prison July 30, 2024 Last week, former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf spoke to the participants of The Last Mile program at Montana State Prison, where he had previously been incarcerated, to share his journey. This visit marked his first time returning to the facility since his release in 2014. After his NFL career ended, Leaf faced a downward spiral, struggling with substance abuse that eventually led to his incarceration for burglary and drug offenses. Today, Leaf is the CEO of RAM Consultant, Inc. and a college and NFL football game analyst for Westwood One Sports. He continues to host his SiriusXM radio show on NFL Radio, Good Morning Football on NFL Network, and has his own TV Show, “The Straight Line with Ryan Leaf.” He travels and speaks to communities nationwide, addressing the mental health and substance abuse stigma, and serves as an Ambassador in Recovery, partnering with the Menninger Clinic. His story, in his own words, is available wherever you get your podcasts. “BUST: The Ryan Leaf Story.“ “Regardless of services offered, there’s choices you can make and commit to while incarcerated. The fact that a resource like The Last Mile is available to incarcerated people in Montana is incredible.” Said Ryan Leaf. The Last Mile program at Montana State Prison began in the Fall of 2022 and is the first of its kind in Montana. Initial funding came from generous contributions from supporters, most notably, the Gianforte Family Foundation. TLM’s mission is to achieve an impact similar to what is being accomplished in other states where TLM operates.
