Job Training

Audio and Video Production Program

The Last Mile’s Audio and Video Production Program is a year-long program that comprises two 6-month courses: Digital Audio Production (DAP) and Video Editing and Post-Production (VEP). In the AVP Program, students develop the core skills necessary to secure an apprenticeship in the audio, digital video, and multimedia industries.

1. Digital Audio Production

Provides training in digital audio production by teaching skills such as the fundamentals of sound, recording equipment and signal path, audio signal processing, and audio editing and mixing using Avid’s Pro Tools software.

2. Video Editing and Post-Production

Provides training in multimedia post-production by teaching skills such as video editing, sound design and sound finishing, basic VFX and motion graphics, color correction, and the fundamentals of motion picture technologies.

Program Objectives

  • Students develop the basic skills required to secure an apprenticeship as an audio engineer or video post-production engineer
  • Students utilize audio and video post-production skills across a series of short projects that replicate practices and client requests relevant to the creative workforce
  • Students attain a high enough level of proficiency to prepare themselves for certification in two industry standard editing softwares
  • Students graduate with a portfolio of real-world projects to showcase the range of skills they have learned
  • Students are equipped with both technical and soft skills that make them prepared to enter the workforce.
