Don Caballero

Don is an established Reentry Specialist, having received training from the Institute for Prison
Ministries at the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College. His hands-on experience in housing
and transition includes being the Co-Founder and Director of The Clay Transitional Living
Homes. He has deep knowledge of the correctional system, having served as the California &
Texas Academy Program Manager for Prison Fellowship and as the Program Director for the
Madera Rescue Mission. Furthermore, Don is a Certified Train-the-Trainer for SAMHSA’s Gain
Center, specializing in “How Being Trauma-Informed Improves Criminal Justice System
Responses.”
Committed to improving community responses, Don actively participates in several advisory and
governance groups. He is a Council Member for the Correctional Community Transitional
Program (CCTP) within the Madera County Department of Corrections, and he serves as a
Merced County Probation Prop 47 Advisory Board Member. Don’s leadership extends to his role
as Board President of the Merced County Jail Ministry and as a Board Member for FEMA in
Madera, CA. He also applies his insights as an Educational Consultant for the Merced County
Office of Education and is a Business Owner of D & J Consulting.
Don holds an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Calvary Christian College and Seminary, and he
studied Business Administration at San Francisco City College. He was honored in 2015 as the
Fresno/Madera Counties Police Chief’s Association Citizen of the Year.
