The Last Mile provides technology training for high-demand jobs for incarcerated individuals in facilities across the US, with its radio show exploring topics that face justice-impacted people.

OAKLAND, CA – Former NFL Quarterback Ryan Leaf announced today he will assume the role of host of the SiriusXM show, The Last Mile Radio. Launched in early 2023, The Last Mile Radio amplifies voices shaping the U.S. justice system and shares impactful stories, covering topics like creativity in prison, emotional literacy, reentry support, substance use recovery, and prison reform.

Upon his early and sudden retirement from the NFL, Ryan Leaf faced a downward spiral, struggling with substance abuse that eventually led to his incarceration for burglary and drug offenses in 2012.

Today, Leaf is the President and CEO of RAM Consultant, Inc., a host on SiriusXM’s NFL Radio channel, and a college and NFL football game analyst for Westwood One Sports. He’s hosted the podcast “The Straight Line with Ryan Leaf” and regularly appears on the CW, among other networks. He travels nationwide to speak about his experience and address the stigmas surrounding mental health and substance abuse that prevent so many from seeking care. He also serves as an Ambassador in Recovery, partnering with the Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas.

“For someone like me, who’s been at the bottom, The Last Mile Radio means everything. It’s not just about telling stories—it’s about building  bridges and showing what’s possible when we invest in people’s potential, not their past,” said Leaf. “This show and its relationship with SiriusXM is a testament to what happens when voices from inside the system are finally heard. It’s a privilege to amplify those stories and inspire listeners to see the humanity in everyone.”

“We are excited to welcome Ryan Leaf as the host of The Last Mile Radio on SiriusXM. The show aims to inspire listeners with stories focused on social impact, a mission we have long admired in Ryan’s community engagements over the years,” said Kevin McCracken, Executive Director of The Last Mile. “Building on the momentum generated since the show launched in 2023, Ryan will continue to engage with changemakers who are committed to shifting the status quo.”

“SiriusXM is proud of the strong relationship we have built with The Last Mile, and the success of TLM Radio over the last year,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer of SiriusXM. “With the addition of Ryan as the new host, the show will only continue to grow, focusing on important topics impacting today’s society, including criminal justice reform, mental health, and incredible stories of transformation.”
