TLM Partner – Indiana Department of Corrections October 24, 2019 Indiana was the first state outside of California to introduce The Last Mile coding program to its incarcerated population at Indiana Women’s prison in April of 2018. In only a little over a year TLM expanded to five facilities in Indy. TLM’s huge presence in Indiana was ignited by a keen interest Governor Holcomb had in reducing recidivism. Impressed with TLM’s zero percent recidivism rate and success, he insisted on being the first state outside of California with The Last Mile. His continued support allowed The Last Mile to expand quickly there. Close to one third of all TLM classrooms are now in that state. One of The Last Mile’s local returned citizens, Jen Browning is a success story. Jen was introduced to coding at the TLM program in Indiana Women’s Prison. She was released prior to completing the program, but her interest in coding remained. She applied and was accepted to Kenzie Academy to continue her learning and just graduated.
