Inside Slack’s Tech Training of Formerly Incarcerated People

Next Chapter offers a comprehensive approach to helping formerly incarcerated individuals reintegrate into society through tech careers. The apprentices receive training at a BootCamp, including The Last Mile, Underdog Dev, and Emergent Works, working on real projects with hiring partners, and are paid throughout the program. They also receive support in adjusting to office culture and other aspects of professional life. The program’s success demonstrates that well-paying tech jobs can break the cycle of poverty and incarceration for many individuals.
