These men are determined to succeed, to give back to their communities, and to live fulfilling lives.”
The Last Mile participants are a very select group of men who have worked hard to improve themselves emotionally and intellectually. Each participant is carefully selected and is required to meet specific prerequisites. They must submit an application, demonstrate adequate communication skills, complete the TRUST or MOMAS program, be enrolled in be a graduate from the Prison University Project, and recommended by an SQ administrator. If these requirements are met, they are invited to an in person, in depth interview.
Participants are required to sign an Oath of Trust and Intention prior to starting the program. Graduates of The Last Mile become lifetime mentors (both inside and outside the walls) and recruiters for future programs.
