In The Last Mile’s Video Editing & Post-Production (VEP) Course, students develop the core skills necessary to secure an apprenticeship in digital video and multimedia industries. Building on their work in the Digital Audio Production Course, students also edit a series of portfolio projects using footage materials from actual productions, demonstrating their newly developed expertise in post-production.
Over the course of ten units, students follow a typical production cycle as they learn about the fundamentals of digital media, basic shot composition, editing techniques, principles of motion graphic design, and more. Concurrently, they learn to use DaVinci Resolve, a robust and adaptable software application used to manipulate video, audio, color, and even visual effects. Students use this software, and the diverse knowledge they acquired across both DAP and VEP, to create several video projects that replicate practices and client requests relevant to the creative workforce.
